It Shall All Be Yours From Severn I am writing this on the day after what meteorologists are calling the "Valentine's Nor'easter." I have discovered, by observing that when a storm is in progress or on its way, that the weather men don't wear their suit coats and ties; they wear sweaters. I don't know what this is supposed to suggest -- perhaps that they are ready on a moment's notice to rush out to a "scene" somewhere, or perhaps that they have been up all night working hard on our behalf. Curious, yes? But today, above the piles of snow and bending trees, there is a glorious blue sky. Winter is here at last! Day by day, our little old church is getting more and more snug as insulation is blown in and laid up, down, and around. As I have said on a couple of Sundays, we must give our thanks to the two Jims - Easton and Ashton - and to Ed Spear. They have worked hard on our behalf. And Jim Easton discovered the source of the yucky odor from the downstairs bathroom that has plagued us for decades: an open sewer pipe under the floor that he capped. Yay! A reminder that ESP can use some monetary donations. Numbers are way up and now include food being sent to the Budget Host Motel to feed people housed there. Also a reminder that our pledge campaign will soon be underway. Think abundance! Among Ourselves Connie Winship's father passed away a couple of weeks ago. We send our thoughts to her family. .PLEASE, if anyone knows of other such joys or sorrows that should be in the newsletter, leave the information in the Point box or e-mail Connie Winship, rayandconnie@gwi.net. (Note, for the April Point, e-mail Claire Prontnicki at cprontni@colby.edu.) President’s Message Work continues on our church building, and I hope that you, too, have been impressed with the changes during this year. The insulation project is complete, and the heating system upgrade nearly so. Many hands have helped make these projects a success, including Jim Easton’s tireless efforts of managing the works and doing much of the cleaning, and Jim Ashton’s patching and repairing places where the old heating system pieces were removed. And the most miraculous improvement of all: Jim Easton found and capped the open pipe in the bathroom that was causing the horrible odor for so many years!! A very visible next project awaits us: the repair/replacement of the steeple/bell tower/clock tower. In the meantime, we are grateful to have the old tower safely grounded while the Board and a small committee are working on plans for the next step on that project. As we continue to progress through these challenges and commitments, I urge you to keep these missions in mind:
It is exciting to see our church filling for Sunday services (and overflowing for special events!) and the energy and efforts exerted by our members on behalf of the church and the community, fulfilling our mission in so many ways, on a daily basis. I am excited as well about the future and look forward to working with you as we continue to move forward.

Family Campership Fund Property and Grounds Committee -- HELP!!! Your Property and Grounds Committee met recently. We discussed many weighty issues, ranging from cracked ceilings to insuring that toilet paper holders are kept filled. (No question about this important issue!) Toward the end of our deliberations, the seven-hundred-pound gorilla in the room leaped upon the table. We are a good-old-boys club, literally and figuratively. You know, guys who have pounded their thumbs so often that the numbness had sifted into their brains. Well, once this drop of UU thought leaked through the numbness, it was like Niagara Falls. We need diversity; we need women; we need the feminine perspective; we need the feminine mystique. It was amazing. UU thought and spirit overflowed the walls of this traditionally male bastion and onto this page. To preserve our now shredded male dignity, we of course cited a second source to justify this plea: The Men's Oath. "I'm a man--but I can change--if I have to--I guess." Well, there you have it. UU Women of Waterville, come to the aid of your Property and Grounds Committee. Add the feminine perspective to our deliberations. Make us a true UU entity. Please hurry before we have second thoughts!
Welcoming Congregation Recent Donations by Our Congregation The February "Plate" donation was for the Waterville Area Homeless Shelter. We collected and donated $200. Nursery in March Thanks to the following adults who will be in the nursery during March to help Molly or Anna Ayotte with the young ones.

kellerkikins@dialmaine.com Gjergji Gaqi's Piano Recital (February 3, 2007) A big THANK YOU to Gjergji Gaqi and to Nancy Brooks for putting together an exciting evening of musical entertainment that was appreciated by such a large number of community members. The church was packed! People truly enjoyed the recital and seemed very happy visiting and chatting downstairs afterwards. Thanks to all church folks who helped with the event, brought food for the reception and who attended. It was so different to hear Gjergji perform the more complex musical pieces compared to our Sunday hymns. It is inspiring to see someone with such passion for music and with such talent. CDs of the performance will be available soon. See Nancy Brooks for details. The audience donated $1,350 for Gjergji's academic expenses. Piano Recital Sarah Wheeler, a senior at Lawrence University in Wisconsin, will present a reprise of her senior recital on Tuesday, March 20, 7:30 at our church, for her Maine friends and relatives. All are welcome. Annual Church Auction We will be having the annual church auction on the first or second Saturday evening in May. Please start thinking about services or items that you would like to donate to help make this year's auction a success. This is a big fundraiser for our church. If you have any questions, or would like to help, please contact Emily Wheeler or Ray Rogers.
