Teams of volunteers from area churches and the community prepare, package, and serve food to customers. Take-out meals consist of sandwiches, hot soup, fruit, and dessert.
No one is turned away.
In the 20 years since it began, 1300+ volunteers have served over 350,000 meals.
Maili Bailey, ESP director, serves as liaison between local and federal agencies whose goal is the distribution of staple foods in the central Maine area; she is additionally the contact person between Colby College, Thomas College, local junior high and high school groups, area churches and interested private citizens who wish to volunteer or donate food.
